A Psaltery is a stringed musical
instrument of the harp and
zither family.The Chromatic Bowed Psaltery, plays two whole octaves from C toC. Includes: bow, stand, tuner and extra strings.The Psaltery of ancient Greece dates from at least
2800 BC, and was a harp instrument.
In the 20th Century the Bowed Psaltery has
come into wide use. It is set up in a triangular format so that the end portion of each string can be bowed.
These Hand-made Celtic instruments are made by band members of the band The Dogwatch,under the direction of Brady Buntin, the band leader. Their instruments may be ordered online or purchased at their vending table each Sunday at the Maku'u Farmers market in Puna. Each Psaltery is decorated with unique wood-burned designs,
no two are alike!
